Science Event Friday, June 2
The science Olympiad will be held June 2. There will be ten events that utilize skills the children have learned this year. One of the favorite events is the egg drop. The children will pack a raw egg in a container that measures no larger than 5 in x 5 in. The egg may not be cooked or frozen.
The egg will be dropped out of a second story window. Students are trying to think of a way to pack the egg so it can survive the fall. All eggs that survive will score a point for the team. The children will work in teams made up of both third grade classes. Each egg will be cracked after the drop to be sure it is raw. Students must bring the egg that morning (June 2) packed and ready to drop. They may attach a parachute.
The egg drop will be held in the east parking lot they will be dropped out Ms. Bianchi’s window at approximately 9:15 AM. Parents are welcome to view the event. The students do not need supplies for the other events. They may want to practice folding paper airplanes at home. Airplanes should be created for distance and accuracy. Students may not bring a plane previously made at home. They will be given paper at the event.
