4th Grade News
Students wore their team color and participated in a variety of games for our all school Field Day. It is the “favorite day of the year” for a lot of students. Congrats to Team Orange for winning this year!
Frank Lloyd Wright Field Trip
Students enjoyed a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s home in Oak Park and then a walking tour guided by a docent of other nearby houses that he designed.
Keynote Presentations on iPads
4th graders worked diligently on the Midwest region presentations they created in the Keynote application on our ipads. They did a wonderful job presenting their information to their classmates on the SmartBoard.

Catholic Schools Week was action packed with a wonderful assembly on kindness and respect, PJ day, delicious hot dogs for lunch, BINGO and a Valentine’s activity with our buddies, and an exciting pep rally. Here are some pictures from the week…

Meet Your Teacher
Welcome to My Class!
I am your 4th and 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Selimos. I will be teaching Religion to my 4th grade homeroom and Social Studies and Grammar to all 4th and 5th grade classes. This will be my third year of teaching at Saint Mary’s School, but it will be my 9th year as a grade school teacher. I am ready for another exciting and busy year of learning and growing and hope that you are too!

4th Grade News Flash Project
Monday: Current Events-this is a current story or article(s) from a newspaper, magazine, or news website (event/story should have taken place in the last two weeks). Make sure you are able to answers questions about the event you chose.
Tuesday: Blasts from the Past-this is an important or significant event from the past (may pick up to 3 events) Example: On September 7th the United States nicknames Uncle Sam. Be sure to pick topics that you can share extra details about.
Wednesday: Famous Words-this can include, but is not limited to, famous quotes (up to five), a special poem, song lyrics, etc.
Thursday: Famous People -Choose up to three famous people who you find interesting to add to our “News Flash” bulletin. Be able to explain why they are of interest to you. You may include fun facts and a picture as well.
Friday: All About Me- You may choose to share something special about yourself in any creative way you like. You can create a poster, bring in something special to you, or just share with the class something you would like everyone to know.
Creativity and thoughtfulness is encouraged. There are resources in our classroom that are available for students to use as well. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Weekly Assessment Folder
*The last assessments for the year will go home on Monday, June 6th.
All tests from your students 4th and 5th grade teachers will go home in your child’s assessment folder weekly on Wednesdays.
Please review the assessments with your child. You may keep the assessments at home after you have signed and dated the folder, as well as written a comment if you choose to do so.
