Book of the Week
We Love to Read!
May Book Report
This month, students are to read a fiction chapter book (no animal fantasy) in order to complete their book report. Students were given a copy of their book report packets on May 1st. Book reports are due Thursday, June 1st. Once students complete their packets, they should bring it to school in order to put it together. I will have resources for the students to use to put the report together.
Please let me know if you have any questions: email@example.com
Monthly Read Aloud
Our class read aloud this month is The Genius Files, a story about twins, Coke and Pepsi McDonald, who are about to embark on the most exciting family road trip of their lives!

Meet Your Teacher
Welcome to Third Grade!
Hello! My name is Miss Ivansek and this is my fourth year teaching at St. Mary School. I have been a part of St. Mary Parish for many years, and am honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the school community once again, as a teacher! I graduated from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota with both my Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature and Theatre and my Master of Arts degree in Instruction. I have a passion for reading, theatre, and learning and am so excited to share this with my students! I look forward to a wonderful year in 3rd grade!
Science Olympiad Day
Science Olympiad is tomorrow, June 2nd. We will begin our day with the egg drop after mass at 9:30AM. Parents are welcome to watch the egg drop. We will be dropping our eggs out of Ms. Puhr’s classroom. Parents who wish to watch should gather in the parking lot near the parish center.
3rd Grade Fundraiser
Two weeks ago you received a note from the third grade class about a bake sale fundraiser. There was an error with the date. Please note that it’s Tuesday, February 17th, not Friday, Feb 13th (we don’t have school that day). The updated note is below and attached.
Please let me know if your child can participate as a baker, seller or promoter. We’ve had a great response and hoping to get as many of the 3rd graders involved as possible.
Third Grade Fundraiser
Can you Harambee?
Harambee is Swahili for “All Pull Together” and on FEBRUARY 17TH, the St. Mary Third Graders are pulling together a cupcake bake sale to help African families.
How can cupcakes help people in Africa? By raising money for them to buy a goat ($150), a pig ($50) and/or a pair of chickens ($15) that will sustainably support their families. Project Harambee is a local charity organization that makes this happen. You can learn more about this gift here: http://projectharambee.org/help_african_women/alternative-gifts . We also plan to invite Project Harambee’s founder, Kathleen Harrison, to meet with the 3rd graders and answer any questions they may have.
So we need bakers, promoters, and sellers to “Harambee” – pull together to help someone else.
Our cupcakes will change lives so won’t you join us?
What we need:
Bakers – we’d like to offer each St. Mary student a cupcake so we’ll need 18 3rd Grade Bakers to make 24 cupcakes each for the sale. We need them the morning of Tuesday, February 17th .
Sellers – these people will walk around the cafeteria during the lunch periods on the 17th collecting money and selling cupcakes.
Promoters – we’ll need 3rd Grade artists and crafters to make signs and posters and hang them all over the school to promote the bake sale. We need the posters completed and brought to school by Monday, February 9th.
Circle the one job you would like to have (or email firstname.lastname@example.org) :
