Special Persons Day
Thank you to all the special persons who came out to see the children in school. We had fun playing Four Corners in spelling, doing our centers, and having a snack. First grade also did a wonderful job with their performance!
Friday, May 26 is Field Day! Students will come to school representing their team colors. After the activities, students will be treated to a hot dog lunch. Dismissal will be at 12:00.

Words of the Week
Spelling Unit 5, Week 6
On Friday, students took their spelling pre-test to determine their list of spelling words for Unit 5, Week 6 of spelling. Each child will bring home his or her list on Monday to practice during the week. Students will either practice words on the brown list OR the teal list. Please leave the list on the ‘Right Back to School’ side of the home folder so it is easily accessible for practice daily. I strongly encourage you to practice the spelling words with your child every night. Due to field day, we will take our spelling test on Thursday, May 25.
The focus for this week will be on the un- and re- prefixes.

Meet Your Teacher
Hello! My name is Miss Grengs and I am so excited to be joining the St. Mary’s community this year. I was born and raised in Westchester and was blessed to attend Catholic schools from Pre-School though 12th grade. I graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL with a B.A. in Elementary Education. I have
also volunteered as a Religious Education catechist and I have coached 6th and 7th grade girls volleyball. In my spare time, I love shopping, spending time with family and friends, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks.
I am already loving St. Mary’s and I look forward to what this year will bring!
Our Lady of the Rosary Mass
This Wednesday, we will celebrate our second All School Mass. Our first graders will be participating in Mass, along with the third graders. We invite you to come celebrate Our Lady of the Rosary with us all!
