Over 400 priests of the Archdiocese of Chicago gathered at the Pheasant Run in St. Charles, June 18th through 21st for a Priests’ Convocation entitled “One In Christ–Brotherhood. Diversity. Gratitude.”
It gave us an opportunity to examine generational, cultural, and theological differences with our brother priests. We had priests in their 80’s to those recently ordained in their late 20’s and the many generations in between. I found that what unites us is much greater than what separates us…our love for the church, our love of priesthood, and our love for our people.
The church continues to be renewed by the Holy Spirit in each generation and we trust that the Spirit renews us in our age.
Thank you to Abby Randall and Tiffany Storandt who are now heading our Art and Environment Committee. They have been most creative in their efforts to enhance our sacred space and in coordinating the volunteers who assist in decorating the church and in keeping the flowers and plants alive by their tender care.
Thank you to Dawn Burda who has taken on the ministry of Director of Altar Servers from Fr. Kris. This ministry is important in that it helps all of our liturgies run smoothly and is an important ministry that our youth can take part in.
Finally Thank You to Teresa Hall for coordinating Fr. Kris’ Farewell Reception in the Oak Room on June 23rd and to all of you who baked and brought the delicious treats for the party. One was tastier than the next! It was a great party, one that I am sure Fr. Kris will always remember! Thanks.
