The months of April and May have been traditionally, in the Archdiocese of Chicago, the time for Ordinations to the Diaconate and the Priesthood. So it is also the time for anniversaries…
Deacon Randy Belice – 3rd Anniversary of Ordination
Fr. Krzysztof Swierczynski – 6th Anniversary of Ordination
Deacon Bob Boharic – 19th Anniversary of Ordination
Fr. Tom May – 35th Anniversary of Ordination
Fr. Bob Banzin – 54th Anniversary of Ordination
Fr. Leon Wagner – 69th Anniversary of Ordination
Please keep us in your prayers as we strive to continue to grow in our ministry to you and in God’s service. Let us also pray for the eight men who were ordained as priests for the Archdiocese of Chicago this weekend. We ask that the Lord gives them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope, and a burning love which will ever increase during their priestly lives.
As many of you are aware Fr. Kris Swierczynski will be leaving our parish this summer to begin his new assignment. The Archdiocese will be sending him to study Canon Law at St. Paul University in Ottawa, Canada. His classes begin late Summer. His last mass here at St. Mary will be on Saturday, June 23rd at 5:00 p.m. Immediately after mass we will have a reception for him in the Oak Room to give you a chance to say Thank You for his 6 years of service to our parish and for him to say Thank You for the love and support you have shared with him these past years. If you are unable to attend the mass please join us in the Oak Room afterwards. The reception will continue till 8:00 p.m.
The Archdiocese of Chicago is acutely experiencing the priest shortage that other dioceses have been experiencing for many years. We will experience it here at St. Mary Parish now with Fr. Kris’ departure. We will not have an Associate Pastor assigned to us and we will now transition to a one priest parish. This of course will involve changes that will be dealt with as we begin this new era.
