Congratulations to Berni Austin who has been named St. Mary CCW Woman of the Year!
Berni is a long time member of St. Mary Council of Catholic Women serving alongside some of the most gifted women humbly working to foster love of God through prayer, parish service and community involvement. Additionally Berni was a school volunteer and a board member of St. Mary School and various Catholic High Schools. She and her husband Bert have a son who is a meningitis survivor and is deaf. Berni has participated on a variety of public school committees and boards responsible to provide services for students with disabilities.
Currently at St. Mary Parish, Berni is a Eucharistic Minister, a weekday Lector and member of the Liturgy Committee, serving on the Youth Ministry Advisory Board, Service Outreach Committee and CCW where she helps to facilitate CCW goals.
In the larger community Berni assisted at the Vicariate IV Food Pantry, designed, written and implemented curriculum for a Catholic Charities summer program for young ESL learners and served as a planning committee member for Parish Leadership Day, a former archdiocesan-wide enrichment and training program for parish leaders.
In the words of our Pastoral Associate, “Berni’s good at washing dishes!”…she has certainly blessed other’s with her hands of service!
Thank you Berni for being such a beautiful witness to Jesus with your life!
