This Saturday we celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation with 89 young people from St. Mary. We welcome these young people into full initiation and participation in our Church as they received the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Conferring the Sacrament of Confirmation was Bishop John Manz, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago and Vicar of our Vicariate IV. We thank Bishop Manz for joining us for these celebrations.
We also thank the catechists and teachers for preparing the confirmands for this great day. Thanks also to our Director of Religious Education, Mrs. Barb Slipek and Mrs. Alice Kowalski our R.E. Assistant for all their hard work throughout the year and assuring that all things run smoothly for these services. We congratulate the parents, sponsors, and families of the newly confirmed. Let us pray for these newly confirmed, that they will always seek the Lord for strength and guidance in their lives, while thanking God for their many blessings. We look forward to the great contribution this class will make to our parish and community life.
I hope that you took a copy of the Lenten Book, “Everybody Needs to Forgive Somebody” by Allen R. Hunt. One of the hopes of the Pastoral Council was having small groups discuss this book. In that Spirit
I will host a discussion group in the Rectory after the 8:15 a.m. Mass on Wednesday’s starting March 8th. We will start on that Wednesday with Chapter 1 which should be read before the gathering. If you plan on joining me, please call Carina at the Rectory and leave your name and phone number so we know how many to be prepared for. Even if you don’t join a small group, please read the book!
