St. Mary Parish acknowledges the need for inclusion of all persons by providing facilities and accessibility for handicapped individuals and by sponsoring a parish site for the SPRED program.
SPRED (SPecial Religious EDucation) is an agency of the Archdiocese. It is a unique program designed for
persons with physical and/or developmental disabilities. The program helps individuals with special needs to know God, grow in faith, and prepare for full participation in the sacramental life of the parish.
Each participating parish focuses on a particular age group in the following categories:
- Children ages 6-10 St. Pius X Parish in Stickney
- Teenagers ages 11-16 St. Mary Parish in Riverside
- Young People ages 17-21 St. Hugh Parish in Lyons
- Adults 22 years and older Mater Christi Parish in North Riverside
If you know of an individual in St. Mary Parish that would benefit from this program, please contact
Mary Anne Walke by phone at (708) 447-7831 or by e-mail at [email protected]
SPRED welcomes volunteers to serve as catechists in this ministry. If you are interested in serving this ministry, please feel free to contact Mary Anne Walke as listed above.
The Catechists of St. Mary SPRED wish to express our gratitude to the parishioners of the parish for their
continued support of this religious education program.
